From the recording Totally Demo'd Vol 1 The Treefort Sessions
This song was inspired by several friends whom have worked in shelters for women. The stories of abuse that I heard was heart wrenching and terrible.
Poor Maggie is actually the 2nd part to one of the first songs I wrote called No More Tears Tonight which was about a kid named Maggie who grew up in a crappy situation.
It's hard for me to write about these sorts of situations, growing up in a truly wonderful family setting, but, it is important to recognize what's going on around us to do EVERYTHING we can to make lives better.
Lyrics
Poor Maggie's run away
She didn't wanna stay here
Who could blame her anyway
Her life was filled with constant fear
She knows she's not the same
It seems like she's fallin: down
The rabbit hole, She don't know where to go
Poor Maggie's lost her way
Poor Maggie hopped a train
Destination: unclear
She didn't have a place to stay
What better way to disappear
Oh Maggie's not the same
She feels like she's fallin down
The rabbit hole. She don't where to go
Poor Maggie's lost her way
Now Maggie looks at herself in the mirror
She's become the thing that she most feared
Tears are falling down,
They're falling down,
They're falling down
I saw Maggie yesterday,
We said it'd been a few years
She didn't have a lot to say
But her eyes were filled with pain and tears
Poor Maggie's not the same
She feels like she's fallin down
The rabbit hole. She don't know where to go
Poor Maggie's lost her way
